The Helm of Awe, also referred to as Aegishjalmur or Viking Compass, emerges as a mysterious and potent symbol within Norse mythology. Chronicled in one of the poems found in the Poetic Edda, this emblem adorned the formidable guardian dragon, Fafnir, who zealously protected a cursed treasure. According to the poem, much of Fafnir's formidable might and invulnerability was attributed to the Helm of Awe worn prominently between his brows. Inspired by this legend, many Norse warriors adopted the symbol, seeking to embody the dragon's ferocious prowess in battle.
